The Implication of a Local History Concept to Establish a Local Museums: A case study of Tha Rae Heritage Museum Tha Rae Subdistrict Mueang District Sakon Nakhon Province.

This research consists purposes were 1. to study the local history of Tha Rae community and 2. to apply a concept of local history to support the local museum of Tha Rae community. This qualitative research has employed three research tools: (1) interview (2) survey and (3) participatory observation. The target research group consists of 10 purposive sampling who were the knowledgeable locals in the community. The main data gained from the research tools purposive sampling and related documents were then content analysis. The results showed that 1) Tha Rae community has three significant timelines (1) the community establishment was an influence of religious persecution occurring with Vietnamese (1884-1947) (2) Tha Rae community had become the largest market of Dog meat of a country (1967-2014) and (3) Lawrence Khai Saen-Phon-On, an archbishop Tha Rae- Nong Sang was a leader of a church, who was the first one who had promoted the festival of Christmas Star to the public, and later on the festival became well-known and was supported by the local government (1982- present) and 2) The concept of local history has been completed information to a local museum in Tha Rae community. The concept has generated the following methods: data collection, Lineage, the collective memory about significant places and the narrative from the locals. The crucial method focuses on the participation of the locals who take part in narrating and composing their history. This method is key to building the community's collective awareness to preserve their own home, their local wisdom heritage, and the history of the Tha Rae community of proud identity formation of Tha Rae community.
