Abstract

This research consists purposes were to design and improve the packaging to transportation of crab farmers for strength according to community standards. is a qualitative research There are research tools consisting of surveys, observations and interviews the target group of the research consisted of 15 people who were selected by purposive sampling. The data gathered from research tools and related documents were analyzed in terms of content analysis. The results showed that characteristics of new packaging developed from reed mats, rectangle shape, size 40×30 cm. There are 12 compartments, each compartment size 10×10 cm. The packaging were efficient, strong, protect the product, convenient transportation, use the environment friendly material. The new packaging is stronger, can hold more weight than plastic glass and can be reused many times, and the durability of the packaging is examined using community standards to measure. The testing strength of being press on vertically, the average weight that can be received is not more than 6 kg, the weight of the test of the horizontal average is that it can support the weight of not more than 4.5 kg, the test of pulling force it can support an average weight of no more than 4 kilograms and the test of humidity resistance found that the packaging resisted good humidity water and can be reused many times. It was found that the designed packaging is practical and effective
