The Role of Disney Princess for Learning and The Formation Identity of Female Teenager in Thai Social.

Abstract

This research consists purposes were 1. to study role and identity formation of Disney princess in the movies, 2. analyze character of Disney princess affecting female teenager’s learning and identity formation and 3. interpret value of Disney princess’s role and identity affecting female teenager in Thai society. This study is qualitative research. There is a research tool which is an interview form, with the target group being 10 people who are female adolescent recipients aged 18-25 years who are qualified to be members of the Disney Princess Thailand Fanclub group in the Facebook channel Watching Movies Featuring Every Disney Princess Character I love Disney princess characters very much. and using the Snowball Sampling method, and using the information gathered from the relevant documents group chat and from the interview to content analysis. the This research presents the following results that 1) Disney princess’s character plays an important role to transfer culture and acknowledgement of female teenagers in Thai Society. The teenagers tried to imitate role and identity from Disney princess’s character. 2) The learning of Thai female teenagers occurs from their relationship between the female teenagers and Disney princess. Their learning influences to each other and 3) Value of role and identity of Disney character for female teenager in Thai society is role imitation, including enthusiastic character, braveness, fight for freedom, learning and experience from travel. The characters have created their identity and positive power for their life.
