The Urban Growth and Urban Governance of Local Government of the Border Special Economic Zone in Mae Sot District Tak Province.

Abstract

This research consists purposes were 1. to study the urban growth of Mae Sot District from the development of SEZ policy 2. to evaluate the capability of local administrative organizations on urban governance and 3. to investigate effective urban governance from the perspective of local stakeholders. is a combination of qualitative and quantitative research. There are research tools such as questionnaires, recording forms and interview forms. The sample consisted of 400 residents in the townships in the Mae Sot Border Special Economic Zone Development Area in the municipal and non-municipal areas. 0.05 and a target group of 16 people from a specific selection. The data collected from the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics consisting of percentage, mean, standard deviation. and t-test and chi-square test and data gathered from interview forms and various documents for content analysis. The results showed that 1) Mae Sot City has continued to grow from being a cross-border trade junction. And it's more rapid when cities fall under regional development frameworks. which increased the value of border trade and became the concept of developing border special economic zones 2) the assessment of the capacity of the local administrative office at a moderate level (x̅ = 3.20) and 3) urban management guidelines according to the viewpoints of urban stakeholders. that the state must involve different sectors of the city's stakeholders in managing the city and had to find new forms or mechanisms to manage the city instead of the centralized government administration system as in the present as for town planning, which is another tool for city management, it must allow local people to participate. to comply with the conditions and requirements of the area.
