Abstract

The main points of this academic article includes: the study of characteristics of pre-service student teachers and analysis of proper qualifications of pre-service student teachers according to principles of the teacher's council of Thailand that related to the professional standards (Fourth Edition, 2019). This article aims at a review on state of society and social context which can change characteristics of pre-service student teachers. Due to the change in context, students in faculty of education needs to accompany with self-development follow the professional standards. The findings revealed that the pre-service students as a teacher should improve themselves to be a new generation teacher with knowledge and competencies. Therefore, it is necessary for the pre-service student teachers to have a variety of skills, the assertiveness, the ability to fulfill teacher duties, the ability to manage learning, the ability to build a great relationship with parents and communities, and being a well-rounded person. Moreover, the pre-service student teachers should have the mindset revolution, the teaching development to becoming a professional teacher in the digital age, stay enthusiastic, and being a role model for students together with spirituality of teacher.
