Guidelines for Developing the Potentials of Community-Based Tourism Frontliners: A Case Study of Ban Non Klang Phibunmangsahan District Ubon Ratchathani Province.

Abstract

This research consists purposes 1. to study potential of community house frontliners; 2. to study visitors’ satisfaction towards community house frontliners; and 3. to study guidelines for developing the potential of community house frontliners at Ban Non Klang, Phinbunmangsahan District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. This research applied mixed methodology of quantitative and qualitative research approaches. The research instruments are focus group, in-depth interviews, and questionnaires. The target group consisted of 8 villagers at Ban Non Klang, Phinbunmangsahan District, Ubon Ratchathani Province and 400 Thai visitors who were selected using nonprobability purposive sampling. Data analysis is from focus group and in-dept interview were analyzed using descriptive analysis.The questionnaires were analysis using statistic description mainly percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results of the research discovered the following; 1) service provider qualities: (1) Knowledge: the service provider has knowledge of serving tourists; (2) Skills: service providers serve tourists by following the procedures and processes that have been learned from training; and (3) Attitude: service providers have a positive view of the community tourism activities. 2) The overall assessment of the satisfaction of visitors towards the community-based tourism frontliners is at a high level ( 4.07). 3) The study of guidelines for developing the potential of community house frontliners found two guidelines important: (1) developing the potential of each house frontliner and (2) enhancing the overall potential of community house frontliners who provide community-based tourism services.
