Abstract

This research aimed to study 1) The monk’s role in community development. 2) factors affecting the monk’s role in community development and 3) Suggestions of monk’s role in community development of Rattanaburi Subdistrict Surin Province. Samples were household heads, consisted of 256 samples, calculated from Yamane formulation and data was collected by using a questionnaire. Statistics used in analysis were frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, correlation, and multiple linear regression analysis with enter method. Research results found that monk’s role in community development, in overall, was in high level. Factors statistically affected the monk’s role in community development at the significant level of .01 were found in 3 factors, arranged by coefficient from most to least were; Art and culture promotion Factor (β = .307), Education welfare factor (β = .281) and Public welfare factor (β = .228) which explained the variation correctly 59.30 % (R2=.593). Suggestions in of monk’s role in community development were; Should organize activities with community participation (f = 24), should have local arts and culture activity promotion in coordinate with local authorities (f = 20) and should coordinate with government agencies in fund requisition for children’s scholarships (f = 418)
