THE FACTORS AFFECTING THE ADMINISTRATORS’ LEADERSHIP OF PRIVATE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN BANGKOK AREA

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) study the factors affecting the administrators’ leadership of Private Higher Education Institutions in Bangkok area and 2) study the relationship of factors affecting the administrators’ leadership of Private Higher Education Institutions in Bangkok area. The samples were administrators of Private Higher Education Institutions in Bangkok. The research instrument was a questionnaire developed based on the conceptual framework of administrator’s leadership. The data was collected from 270 respondents from 18 private higher education institutions in Bangkok using quota and purposive sampling methods. The research employed descriptive and inferential statistics including the Independent Samples t-test and One-Way ANOVA to test variables and to test the hypothesis.


            The findings revealed that (1) administrative characteristic factors regarding personality, knowledge and management skills were significantly related to administrators' leadership at the statistical significance 0.05 level. (2)  administrative behavior of administrators in private higher education institutions in the aspects of participation, success of work, support and prestige power were related to administrators' leadership at the statistical significance 0.05 level, and (3) factors of relevant situation in the organization in terms of maturity and readiness, organizational structure and executive’s support were correlated to administrators' leadership at the statistical significance 0.05 level.
