AN ANALYSIS OF PEOPLE’S MISCONDUCT AND REPENTANCE IN THE BUDDHA’S TIME

Abstract
This research on "An Analysis of People's Misconduct and Repentance in the Buddha’s Time" had 3 objectives; 1) to study the misconduct and the repentance appeared in Buddhism, 2) to study the people's miles conduct and their repentance in the Buddha's time and 3) to analyze and present the misconduct and the repentance.
The results revealed as the' following
- "Misconduct has the same meaning in Pali“Mitchajara which meant to any actions or human's kamma which were corruption by actions. These actions were dominated by Akusalakamma: an evil action. The natures of misconduct dealed with Vipaka or the results of misconduct according to Kamma principle. There were 3 types of misconduct Kaya dud carita : misconduct by the body, Vaciduecarita: misconduct by Speech and Mano ducalrita : evil mental action. For the word "repentance" has the most similar meaning in Pali as “Mana'sang winiwattyu" which meant to quit doing any bad behaviors strictly for all physical, words and mental actions which were factors to correlate Sammadithi: right view; right understanding leading to be good conscious mind. There were 2 types of repentance : 1) Hiri moral shame and 2) Ottappai moral dread. There were 2 causes for repentance 1) Paratogho'sa : inducement by others and 2) yonisomanasikara: reasoned attention, including these needed to consist of Saddha 4.
- Anyone who misconducted and repented themselves during the Buddha's time which were studied in this research sucklas 12 Phra Thawathatt appeared 18 events of misconduct and repentance in the Jataka: Buddha's stories happened during this last birth, 2) Phra Ongkulimal appeared s'events in the Jataka and 3) Phrachad Achatsatthire appeared 2 events in the Jataka. Phra Thawathatt's misconduct appeared both in the past and at present time with no evidence of repentance' for 62 birth time, but there were only 13 birth time appearing to be repentance. For Phra Ongkulimal land Phrachao Achatsatthru, it disclosed that after my's conduct for a while, they both could being repentance for all their birthtimes both in the past and at the present time...
- The causes of misconduct for Phra Thawathatt, Phra Onakulimal and Phrachao Achatsatthru happened in the past from the power of 3 Akusalamul: 1) greed, 2) anger and '3) delusion which were accumulated continuously uto the present time. While the repentance of 3 persons/ mentioned above happened from the Parato a nosa which were warning, suggesting and teaching by Lord Buddha and the Yonisdinamasikaraselfarelized within their souls and spirits from their charity and training. There were some differences. among the st persons : Phra Ongkulimal could quit his intolerant strictly and developed his mind till got to nirvana within the present birthtime. For the rest; Phrò Thawathatt and Phrachao Achatsatthru, even both could repent to have good conduet.
