Abstract

This survey research aimed to study spending behaviors such as monthly revenues and expenses, expenditure for learning, food, personal and recreations and their relationship with receiving scholarship among nursing student. Samples were 258 nursing students. The questionnaires was introduced to collect data. We used percent, mean, SD and chi square test to analyzed data.


          Results found that:  nursing students got money less than 3,000 baht/month from their parent, had cell phone and notebook.  They paid for learning less than 1,000 baht/month, for food less than 3,000 baht/month, for personal expense less than 1,000 baht/month and for recreation less than 1,000 baht/month. Food and personal expense behaviors had statistical relationship with receiving scholarship and nursing student who received scholarship had higher payment than others. Spending habits of the student in each year of study had statistical relationship with learning and food expenses. The 3rd year of study had highest learning spending followed by the 4th year and 1st and 2nd year, respectively. There was no difference for food expense. If they had money problems, they planned to request their parent, borrow from relatives/friends, starving, online sale, and ignoring the purchase of unnecessary.


          Summary, to understand spending behaviors either receiving scholarship or not can be guide to plan for student expenditure, enhance characteristic for sufficient and reasonable payment.
