A DEVELOPMENT OF CONSTRUCTIVIST LEADERSHIP INDICATORS FOR SCHOOL PRINCIPALS
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purpose of this research was to develop the constructivist leadership indicators for school principals, the objectives were as follows: 1) to develop the constructivist leadership indicators for school principals, 2) to test the congruence of developed model with empirical data as specified criterion, and 3) to develop constructivist leadership development guidelines for school principals. Phase I was the development of constructivist leadership indicators for school principals by theoretical documental analysis, and verifying the context validity by interviewed the 8 experts to confirm and evaluate component accuracy. Phase II was the examination of the goodness of fit of the structural model. The sample size of 858 school principals and teachers in the Northeast was derived by multi-stage random sampling. Data collection tool was a five-level rating scale questionnaire with collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistic, and inferential statistic using Statistical Computer Program and M-plus program. Phase III was the development of constructivist leadership development guidelines for school principals by conducted a group discussion with 8 experts.
The research findings were
- The Development of constructivist leadership indicators for school principals, there were five major factors, eighteen sub-factors and eighty-five indicators, were obtained; fifteen indicators related to three sub-factors of vision for learning, twenty indicators to four sub-factors of knowledge sharing culture, fourteen indicators to four sub-factors of knowledge manage, twenty- three indicators to four sub-factors of The learning network, and thirteen indicators to three sub-factors of learning environment.
- The developed the causal model of constructivist leadership indicators for school principals, consisted of congruence with empirical data, the Chi-square = 3389.612, and degrees of freedom (df) = 3284 , P-value = 0.070, (c2/ df) = 1.032, CFI = 0.995, TLI = 0.994, SRMR = 0.031, and RMSEA = 0.006. For major factor, its construct validity or factor loading was higher than the criterion 0.70 in every factors. The sub-factors and indicators had construct validity, or factor loading in higher level than criterion 0.30.
