The Develop Problem-based Learning Activities with Graphic Organizer Techniques on Dhamma Principles and Living for Matthayomsuksa 4 Students

Abstract

This research consists purposes were 1. to develop problem-based learning activities integrated with graphic organizer techniques to meet the efficiency criterion of 80/80 2. to compare students academic achievement before and after learning through the developed activities 3. to compare students problem-solving abilities before and after participating in the developed learning activities and 4. to examine students satisfaction toward the problem-based learning activities integrated with graphic organizer techniques. This study employed a quantitative research design. The research instruments consisted of learning management plans using problem-based learning combined with the graphic organizer technique, a learning achievement test, a problem-solving ability test and a student satisfaction questionnaire. The sample comprised one classroom of 38 Grade 10 (MathayomSuksa 4/2) students at Chiang Yuen Pittayakom School, Chiang Yuen District, Maha Sarakham Province, under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Maha Sarakham, selected through cluster random sampling. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean and standard deviation. The results revealed the following 1) Regarding the efficiency of the problem-based learning activities combined with the graphic organizer technique on the topic Dhamma Principles and Daily Living for Grade 10 (MathayomSuksa 4) students, the lesson on the Four Noble Truths and problem-solving in daily life was rated at the highest level (x̅ = 4.90, S.D. = 0.30). 2) In the comparison of learning achievement before and after learning among students taught through problem-based learning combined with the graphic organizer technique 2.1) the pretest mean score was 12.24 (S.D. = 2.50) and 2.2) the posttest mean score was 24.87 (S.D. = 2.20). 3) In the comparison of problem-solving ability before and after learning among these students, 3.1) the pretest mean score was 11.84 (S.D. = 2.31) and 3.2) the posttest mean score was 27.58 (S.D. = 2.32) and 4) Regarding student satisfaction with the problem-based learning activities combined with the graphic organizer technique, Grade 10 students expressed an overall satisfaction at the highest level (x̅ = 4.72, S.D. = 0.56).
