Enhancing Cultural Capital from Clay to Creative Community-Based Tourism in Dan Kwian Chok Chai District Nakhon Ratchasima Province

This research consists purposes were 1. to investigate the potential of soil-based cultural capital in Dan Kwian Community Chok Chai District Nakhon Ratchasima Province 2. to examine tourists satisfaction toward tourism activities in Dan Kwian Community Chok Chai District Nakhon Ratchasima Province and 3. to develop tourism activity patterns and tourism routes based on soil-derived cultural capital toward creative tourism in Dan Kwian Community, Chok Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This is a mixed-methods research study combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. The research instruments consisted of a questionnaire and an interview form. The sample group consisted of 400 Thai tourists traveling to Dan Kwian community, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, determined using Taro Yamane's formula (1973), with convenience sampling employed. The target group consisted of 15 people selected through purposive sampling. The data collected from the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics for data analysis and hypothesis testing, while the interview data were analyzed using content analysis and SWOT analysis. The findings revealed that 1) The potential of cultural capital derived from clay in the Dan Kwian community was, overall, most notable in local wisdom and pottery culture, which can be systematically developed as a model for managing tourism route formats and community tourism activities. 2) The satisfaction of Thai tourists with the tourism activities of the Dan Kwian community, Chok Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, was overall at the highest level (x̅= 4.51). Satisfaction with tourism activities was found to be at the highest level in every aspect, namely: the potential for tourism activities, followed by participation in tourism activities, and the format of tourism activities, respectively and 3) The development of activity and tourism route formats from clay-based cultural capital toward creative tourism for the Dan Kwian community produced a community-based tourism route and activity format, namely a tourism route visiting the civilization and source of local pottery wisdom, paying respects at temples for blessings, learning the community's way of life based on the sufficiency economy philosophy, and preserving local wisdom (a one-day tourism route and activity format).
