The Development of an English Manual for Tourist Recommendations in Sakonnakhon Province

Abstract

This research consists of two purposes 1. to develop an English guidebook for introducing tourist attractions in Sakon Nakhon Province and 2. to investigate the satisfaction of foreign tourists with the guidebook. This research was designed in a quantitative research method. There are research instruments which are the English guidebook and a satisfaction questionnaire for foreign tourists. The sample group included 30 foreign tourists who visited Sakon Nakhon and were selected through accidental selection sampling. The efficiency of the guidebook was evaluated using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean and standard deviation. The research found that 1) the content of the guidebook was rated at the highest level of appropriateness (x̅= 4.84, S.D. = 0.30). Its design was also considered highly appropriate (x̅= 4.75, S.D. = 0.49) and 2) The foreign tourists expressed a very high level of satisfaction with the guidebook. In terms of content (x̅= 4.93, S.D. = 0.25) in terms of design (x̅= 4.84, S.D. = 0.30) and in terms of usefulness and applicability (x̅= 4.81 (S.D. = 0.47).
