Abstract

This research consists purposes were 1. orchestrate the traditional tune Mae Hang Lullaby and 2. to include this structure into the instruction of individual Western instrument practice and group performance. This is a qualitative research. The research instruments are interviews and observation forms. The target group of the research is 57 people, all of whom were selected purposively. The information gathered from interview forms observation forms and related documents were then content analysis. The study demonstrates that 1) a complete musical analysis divides the song into four components: an introduction, sections A and B, and a conclusion. The A minor Pentatonic scale and 2/4-time signature are used to compose these portions. The researcher utilized two harmonizing concepts applying Western music theory that relies on key signatures for the purpose of harmonizing and 2) applying methods for harmonizing Western music. The whole duration of the piece that uses modern composition theories and Western music is around 6-minute, 23-second.
