Problems and Suggestions of Water Governance of Chi River Basin in Roiet and Yasothorn Provinces

Abstract

This research consists purposes were 1. to study the problems of water governance in the Chi River basin area regions of Roiet Province and Yasothon Province and 2. to study the suggestions of water governance in the Chi River basin area regions of Roiet Province and Yasothon Province. This research is qualitative The research tool was a semi-structured interview form. The target group for the research was 12 people, all from purposive selection, consisting of (1) 2 civil servants involved in water management (2) academics and related private developers (3) having knowledge in the field 2 people in water governance and (4) 8 people who are stakeholders in water governance in the communities studied. Data collected from interviews and various related documents were then content analysis. The research results found that 1) Conditions of water governance problems in the areas of Roiet Province and Yasothon Province lack of people's participation, coordination between government agencies and the people was not thorough including planning and preparation carried out only by the government sector, the people did not know the details of the operation, and government agencies still lacked knowledge about the community context and 2) The main suggestion that the people have regarding water governance is the people want the agencies involved in water governance to work together in an integrated manner to increase efficiency in work and reduce the time of work, and there should be opportunities for people to participate in water governance more than is currently the case.
