The Effects of Using Murdoch Integrated Approach (MIA) to Improve English Reading Comprehension Abilities of Grade Six Students

Abstract

The purpose of this study were 1. to compare English reading comprehension abilities of sixth grade students before and after using the Murdoch Integrated Approach (MIA) and 2. to study the satisfaction of sixth grade students with Murdoch Integrated Approach (MIA). This study uses quantitative research. The following research instruments were used lesson plans with Murdoch Integrated Approach (MIA), an English reading comprehension test and satisfaction questionnaire toward using the Murdoch Integrated Approach (MIA). The sample group is 6th grade students who are currently studying. In the first semester of the academic year 2023, there will be 12 people, all from purposive selection. Then the data obtained from the research tools were analyzed using descriptive statistics consisting of mean, standard deviation. and sample t-tests are not independent. The results of the study were 1) the English reading comprehension abilities of the grade sixth students after using the Murdoch Integrated Approach (MIA) were higher than before at .05 significance level and 2) The students' satisfaction toward using the Murdoch Integrated Approach (MIA) was at a high level (x̅= 4.08, S.D.= 0.68)
