Abstract

The purpose of the current study is to study the use of local wisdom of the Nong So community in developing senior citizen well-being. The study was developed in a qualitative approach emphasizing field studies on interviewing community leaders, senior citizens, local philosophers, scholars, children, youths, volunteers, and families of senior citizens. 4 cultural organizations participated in the process. 1) Prasit Chaiyaram temple with the cooperation of Phra Khru Prasit Chayaphiwat, the abbot of the temple who suggested 5 roles of the temple including being a center of mind, a place for religious ceremonies, a shelter of the oppressed, a care home for seriously sick persons, and a career development center.  2) localphilosophers took part in the roles of community leaders, ritual holders, carpenters, builders, agricultures, herbalists, knife makers, weavers, mat crafters, and handcrafters. 3. The network of scholars from public health organizations, volunteers, and Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University took the role of collaborators. Children and Youth in the area took the roles of the collectors of knowledge and experiences used in the development of senior citizen well-being.
