Status and Role of Female Characters in Chulamanee’s Novels.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were 1. To study the status and role of female characters in Chulamanee’s Novels. and 2. To strategies of creating female characters in Chulamanee’s Novels. This research uses a qualitative research methodology using the conceptual framework of character theory. Status and role of female characters Character Creation Strategies Present the research results, summarize and discuss the results in the form of a descriptive analysis. The novel used in this research is a novel written by Chulamanee from 2007 - 2017. There are 204 female characters, 8 stories, as follows: (1) Ching Chang (2) Thakieangklangpayu (3) Sutkansanrak (4) Sunrise on a cold night (5) Destiny of love in the wind (6) Thung Sanaeha (7) Watsanarak and (8) Krongkarma. The results of the research were as follows: 1) The status and roles in the family were the mother's status and roles, Status and role of mother-in-law - daughter-in-law, Status and role of wife Daughter's status and role, The status and role of friends/sisters, Status and roles of adult relatives. Status and roles in society, it was found that female characters graduated from primary school to bachelor's level. Women are talented, smart, intelligent, able to work in unlimited places. Women are taking a more active role in public spaces. Education influences attitudes towards career choices that are chosen based on interests. and the aptitude that they have Women play more economic roles. The society is more open for women to work in various professions, have the ability to communicate in English. Women must be able to take responsibility for both household chores and work outside the home. and 2) In terms of character creation techniques, it was found that female characters in Chulamanee's novels can be divided into 2 types, namely creating female characteristics according to social traditions, beautiful women, being feminine and grateful. She is a smart woman with good intelligence, love to learn, love her family, charming, fashionable dress. have self-confidence A woman who fights people, doesn't tolerate people, stubborn. Chulamanee creates modern female characters through areas such as workspaces, borderless communication spaces and transport. There are strategies for creating realistic characters. Meet typical character traits and multidimensional characters.
