Keeping up with the<br>current development of contemporary art in ASEAN is considered necessary for the<br>research team composed of seven university lecturers.The team needs to understand and analyse the development in order to pass on knowledge to their students<br>who are the future of ASEAN contemporay art scene.<br>The scope of the research program can be seen from field trips carried out in five<br>countries only: Lao, Myanmar, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Singapore. The research program is composed of six research projects. Each researchers choose the<br>research title accroding to his subject of interest.<br>Methodologies used in all research projects are of qualitative characters. The<br>methods are 1) Document review 2) Fieldwork 3) Interview 4) Observation and 5)<br>Record. Methods used in each research project are slightly different from one another due to specific social and cultural contexts in each country. All researchers<br>transformed raw data into information, analyzed it, and passed their analysis to<br>head of the research program. The head analyzed the over-all findings in a final<br>state.<br>Contemporary art in ASEAN is a new and challenging subject to be researched.<br>The learning, exploring and analyzing process needs time.
