Abstract

The education must encourage students to develop their full potential. Psycho –
Characteristics and computer skills is a factor in many of the factors that effect the
achievement of computer. This research aims to study factors of psycho – characteristics
and computer skills affecting computer learning achievement of matthayomsueksa 3 student in
udonthani province and to construct a predictive equation. The sample consisted of 373
matthayomsueksa (grade) 3 student from 6 schools in Udonthani province, obtained using the
multi – stage random sampling technique. Three types of the instrument used in the study
included 4 choice computer achievement test with discriminating power ranging .20 - .62
and a reliability of .86. The second one was a 5 rating–scale inventory on psycho–
characteristic, divided into 5 aspects, with discriminating power ranging .32-.98 and a
reliability of .98. The third is observation for the practice computing a reliability of the
observer 2 was .98 and a reliability of the observation was .87 and .86 respectively. The
statistics used for analyzing the collected data were mean, standard deviation and stepwise
multiple regression analysis.
The results of the study were as follows:
1. The predictive variables of psycho – characteristics and computer skills with
positive relationship with computer Learning Achievement were achievement motive (X3)
attitude toward computer learning (X1) presentation program skills (X8) Basic computer skills
(X6) and Internet skills. The predictive variable with negative relationship with computer
Learning Achievement were Anxiety to learning of computer learning (X2) and Future
orientation (X5).
2. The variable which could predict computer Learning Achievement were
achievement motive (X3), attitude toward computer learning (X1), presentation program skills
(X8), Anxiety to learning of computer learning (X2) and Self-Esteem with a multiple
correlation coefficient (R) of .913, adjusted predicting coefficient ( R2adj) of .831, can be
predicted 83.1 percent, and standard error (SEest) of 1.702. Predictive equations in a raw -
score form and a standard – score form could be constructed as below.
A predictive equation in a raw – score form :
Y' = 4.721 + .174 X3 + .208 X1 + .283 X8 - .075 X2 + .082 X4
A predictive equation in a standard – score form :
Z'Y = .343Z3 + .358Z1 + .255Z8 -.148Z2 + .045Z4
In conclusion, Factors of Psycho – Characteristics and Computer Skills affecting
computer learning achievement. Therefore, teacher and those involved should promote and
support and implement the factor as mentioned in organization of learning – teaching
activities for learners to have higher computer learning achievement.
