A Development in 21st Century Skills Indicators for Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science State University Northeastern

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to: 1) to developing indicators of 21st Century
Skills for Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science State University Northeast And 2) to
analysis element model of developing indicators of 21st Century Skills for Students
Undergraduate Faculty of Science State University Northeast. The study was divided into
two phrases ; the first phrase was a development to d indicators of 21st Century Skills for
Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science State University Northeast by using the Delphi
Technique. The samples were 11 from 21st century skills experts obtained using the
purposive sampling technique. The research instruments were two questionnaires surveying
on the experts in three rounds ; the first query used 3 open-ended questions, the second
query employed 55 five rating scale questions and the third round utilized the same
questions as in the second query but adding median and quartile range. Statistics used in
data analyses to identify indicators with statistical value were a median ranged from 3.50 to
5.00 and a quartile range which was less than or equal to 1.50. The second phrase was to
analysis element model of developing indicators of 21st Century Skills for Students
Undergraduate Faculty of Science State University Northeast. the samples divided in to 2
groups 2) is the Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science Used in the Exploratory Factor
Analysis : EFA 600 people and random by Multi-stage Random Sampling. 3) is the Students
Undergraduate Faculty of Science Used in the Confirmatory Factor Analysis : CFA 633 people
and random by Multi-stage Random Sampling. A research instrument was a 30 item five
rating scale questionnaire. The questionnaires for Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science
State University Northeast for Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis .
Quality indicators are these instruments had discrimination power ranging from 0.173 to
0.436 and a reliability of .746 Data analysis was completed with basic statistical approaches,
while EFA and CFA were conducted by using the statistical software.
The results of the study were as follows :
1) The results of developing indicators of 21st Century Skills for Students
Undergraduate Faculty of Science State University Northeast.
The result of the quality of the measurement indicator 21st Century Skills for
Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science State University Northeast. The consisted of 3
dimensions and 30 indicators.
2) The results of analysis element model of developing indicators of 21st
Century Skills For Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science State University Northeast.
2.1 The exploratory factors analysis consisted of 3 dimensions and 30 indicators,
ranked by the total factor loading, from low to high score. In details, 3 dimensions included
Learning and Innovation Skills 15 indicators, Life and career skills 8 indicators and Information
media and technology skills 7 indicators. These factors were applicable to explain the
definition of 21st Century Skills for Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science for 65.00 %.
2.2 The second confirmatory factor had a factor loading of the 21st Century
Skills indicator for Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science regarding 3 dimensions and 30
indicators. This factor loading was ranked from low to high score. Namely, Learning and
Innovation Skills, Information media and technology skills, and Life and career skills.
individually had a total factor loading as follows : 0.706, 0.319 and 0.087 respectively.
Meanwhile, R2 was 0.499, 0.169 and 0.008 Besides, each factor shares the variance with the
21st Century Skills indicator for Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science. In particular,
Learning and Innovation Skills was the most important factor. Whilst Life skills and career
skills was the least one. Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) between the model and empirical data
indicated that Chi-Square was = 180.04, df = 199, /df = 0.90, CFI = 1.000, TLI = 1.002,
RMSEA = 0.000, SRMR = 0.043. This signified the construct validity of the model. In sum,
there are a number of indicators and variables meaningfully involved with the 21st Century
Skills, in which the stakeholders need to the Development in 21st Century Skills Indicators
for Students Undergraduate Faculty of Science State University Northeast.
