Evaluation of Scout Curriculum on Chief Rank for Prathomsuksa 6 in Schools Under Nongkhai Primary Educational Service Area Office 2

Abstract

Scout curriculum on chief rank requires students develop physically,
mentally and intellectually to be good citizens with responsibility that can help
create a thriving society, the peace and the security of the nation. The curriculums
have been used for 31 years already. Therefore, the purpose of this research was
to evaluate scout curriculum on chief rank for Prathomsuksa 6 in schools under
Nongkhai primary education service area office 2 implementing CIPP modem
(Context, Input, Process, Product) The sample were from 107 schools that
consisted of 8 administrators, 9 teachers, 152 scout students studying in chief
rank, 152 parents of scout students and 38 students who had finished scout
curriculum in chief rank in academic year of 2011.
The instruments were rating scale questionnaires and structured
interviews. Rating scale questionnaires consisted of 1) a questionnaire with 15
items that had discriminative-power values from 0.466-0.814, and reliability value
of 0.925 for the entire questionnaire for administrators 2) a questionnaire with 85
items that had discriminative-power values from 0.458-0.841, and reliability value
of 0.962 for the entire questionnaire for teachers 3) a questionnaire with 61 items
that had discriminative-power values from 0.449-0.763, and reliability value of
0.973 for the entire questionnaire for students. Structured interviews consisted of
1) an interviews with 5 items for administrators 2) an interviews with 5 items for
teachers 3) an interviews with 4 items for students 4) an interviews with 3 items
for parents. The data collected were analyzed by using percentage, means and
standard deviation.
The findings were as follow:
1. Context or environment: The quality was at a high level in overall.
The curriculum purposes according to teachers’ viewpoint was at a highest level.
The purposes, structure and content of curriculum according to administrators’
viewpoint were at a high level. The structure and content of curriculum according
to teachers’ viewpoint were at a high level as well.
2. Input: The quality was at a high level in overall. Readiness and
potentiality of teachers, material and places were at a high level.
3. Process: The quality was at a high level in overall. The aspect of
activity process as well as measurement and evaluation were at a high level.
4. Product: The quality was at a high level in overall. Each aspect was
at a high level of quality as follow: knowledge on chief scouting, desired
characteristic that was relevant to scout curriculum on chief rank, and 8 based
moralities.
In summary, the scout curriculum on chief rank for Prathomsuksa 6 in
schools under Nongkhai primary education service area office 2 had a high level of
quality in all aspects. Therefore, It is reasonable to use this curriculum. Anyway, it
should be improved to have a highest level of quality in order to improve the
quality of learners' full potentiality.
