A Construction of a Scale on Critical Thinking of level 4 Students under the Office of Si Sa Ket Educational Service Area 3

Abstract

Current teaching students to ability think It is especially, important in the study to
provide high quality education. all educational institutions are active in regard. Therefore, to
study and focus on developing the students to grow up to be quality in all. such intelligence
Moral and good citizen of the country to know that. The purposeof this study was to Construction
of a Scale on Critical Thinking of level 4 students. And to construct norms. The samples
consisted of 687 of level 4 students from 15 schools, studying under the Office of Si Sa Ket
Education Service Area 3 in the Second semester of the academic year 2009, obtained using the
multi-stage random sampling technique. The instruments used were a Scale on The Critical
Thinking, with 4 choices ,totally 60 items, created by the theory of Watson and Glazer. The
instruments were experimented 3 times, experimented 1 experimented samples consisted of
100, 67 items is criteria. Experimented 2 experimented samples consisted of 100, 60 items is
criteria. Experimented 3 experimented samples consisted of 487, the overall reliability of 0.82.
and construction of norms in a form of T- norm scores ; and extension of T - scores using
predictive equations TC= 2.40+1.40x.
The research findings were as follows :
1. Experimented 1 and 2 difficulty of a Scale with the values, ranging 0.24 to 0.80,
0.24 to 0.79 respectively. Discriminating powers of a Scale with the values, ranging 0.25 to
0.82, 0.25 to 0.79 respectively.
2. Experimented 3 reliability and construct norms were as follows.
2.1 Reliability of a Scale on Critical Thinking in 5 aspects, reliability of a Scale with
0.83, 0.87, 0.73, 0.87 and 0.78 respectively. overall reliability of 0.82.
2.2 Norms of a Scale on Critical Thinking with totally 60 items Norms of the scale
were : with T-norms ranging T19-T79 In analysis of the normalized T scores, do not cover all the raw
scores. Researcher was conducted from the normal. To cover the raw scores any points, or almost
all points using linear equations TC =2.40+1.40X. The first section extends from 60 to 53 scores
is Tc with T86 to T76. And the Second section extends from 9 to 1 scores is Tc with T15 to T3.
In conclusion, the developed scale on Critical Thinking of level 4 Students under the
Office of Si Sa Ket Educational Service Area 3 could be used for evaluation and used as a guideline
for constructing the instruments for evaluation of Critical Thinking of students in educational
institutions in the future.
