Abstract

The objectives of this research were: (1) to study the context, development, and historical background of the Bang Ko Bua Community, Amphoe Phrapradaeng, Changwat Samut Prakan; (2) to analyze the conditions of the area for developing creative tourism; and (3) to propose guidelines for the development of creative tourism in the Bang Ko Bua Community. This qualitative research employed the concepts of creative tourism and community-based tourism management as its theoretical framework. The study area was the Bang Ko Bua Community. The key informants included one community leader, four local wisdom scholars, three elderly residents, two local officials, and five tourists, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using content analysis with descriptive interpretation. The research results were found as follows;

  1. Bang Ko Bua Community is characterized as a fertile agricultural area and an environmentally conserved zone. The community has organized itself by establishing the Bang Ko Bua Community-Based Tourism Promotion Club in 2017, which resulted from the collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, and local residents. This initiative aimed to develop Khung Bang Kachao as a major tourist attraction in Amphoe Phra Pradaeng.

  2. The community’s context allows for the organization of eight creative tourism activities, including: (1) rowing to experience the local way of life, (2) learning to make fresh herbal compresses, (3) herbal foot soaking and massage, (4) cycling to enjoy the natural environment, (5) visiting the Ban Khlong Bon Museum, (6) tasting coconut-based delicacies, (7) making natural-dyed tie-dye fabrics, and (8) enjoying Miang Kleep Bua (lotus petal wraps). These activities reflect the community’s unique culture, traditions, and local wisdom.

  3. The guidelines for developing creative tourism in the community consist of: (1) promoting diverse communication and marketing channels, (2) building inter-community cooperation networks, (3) providing continuous financial support, (4) diversifying tourism activities, and (5) conserving and improving tourist attractions sustainably.

The essential knowledge derived from this research is the “Four-Dimensional Integrated Framework,” which includes creative communication, structural support, experience design, and community participation. These factors are crucial for enabling the sustainable and continuous development of creative tourism within the Bang Ko Bua Community.
