A Comparative Study of Educational Elite’s Thought between Thailand and Japan : A Cast Study of Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri and Mori Arinori

Abstract
The purpose of this article is conduct a comparative study of the educational thought of the Thai leader, Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri and the Japanese leader, Mori Arinori. Using the documentary study from all document. The results found that the education thought of two men are both similar and different. The same aspects ; (1) Both Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri and Mori Arinori were once students with good academic study. (2) Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri and Mori Arinori were both recipients of government scholarships to study aboard. (3) Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri and Mori Arinori both entered government service. The different aspects; (1) Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri studied specifically for the teacher, while Mori Arinori has never studied in the teaching profession anywhere. (2) Philosophy or purpose of education, Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri saw that education would be benefit to the students themselves in term of livelihood, cultivating wisdom and being a morally good person, while Mori Arinori saw that education in Japan is not for the students but for the nation and (3) Differences in teacher training method, Chao Ptraya Thammasakmontri saw that teachers must have good knowledge in the subjects they teach, know how to teach and be a good example for students, while Mori Arinori emphasizes personality in three types are obedience, friend ship and dignity.
