The Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence and the Use of Power by School Administrators Under the Office of Secondary Educational Services Area, Bangkok District 1

This Article aimed to study (1) the level of emotional intelligence of school administrators under the Office of Secondary Educational Services Area, Bangkok District 1, (2) the level of power usage by school administrators under the Office of Secondary Educational Services Area, Bangkok District 1 and (3) the relationship between emotional intelligence and power usage of school administrators under the Office of Secondary Educational Services Area, Bangkok District 1. the sample consisted of 369 teachers from a population of 4788 in the academic year 2023, selected using stratified sampling based on school size. The research instrument was a questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using statistics such as percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient. The research results were found as follows;

1. The overall level of emotional intelligence of school administrators under the Office of Secondary Education Area, Bangkok District 1, was high. When considering specific aspects, the highest average was in virtue, followed by happiness, with the lowest average in capability.        

2. The overall level of power usage by school administrators under the Office of Secondary Educational Services Area, Bangkok District 1, was high. When considering specific aspects, the highest average was in coercive power, followed by legitimate power, with the lowest average in reward power.

3. There was a significant positive relationship at the .01 level between emotional intelligence and power usage of school administrators under the Office of Secondary Educational Services Area, Bangkok District 1, with a correlation coefficient of .637.
