Abstract

The objectives of this research is to: 1) examine appropriate public spaces development guidelines to encourage age-friendly city in Bangkok; 2) study factors affecting appropriate public spaces development guidelines to encourage age-friendly city in Bangkok; and 3) suggest guidelines appropriate public spaces development guidelines to encourage age-friendly city in Bangkok. This research methods uses a qualitative. The total number of sample size is 25 by in-depth interview, key informants are recruited from government agencies, private agencies and people in the area. The results are analyzed based on systematic descriptive, rational, theoretical references, and data organization.

The research results indicate as follow:

1. public spaces are an important element of a city that to encourage quality of life and supports to diverse needs in order for the elderly to use the space safely and interact socially, they need to be adjusted accordingly and appropriately. This is a reflection of the development of public spaces for the benefit of the appropriate public space services for the elderly.


2. the interesting finding of factors affecting appropriate public spaces development guidelines to encourage age-friendly city in Bangkok includes 1) public space physical, 2) services scope, 3) inside comfort, 4) area image, 5) area feeling, 6) social spaces, and 7) designing areas that respond to the behavior of the elderly.


3. guidelines appropriate public spaces development guidelines are to create a systematic plan integrated with other relevant agencies in order to develop a suitable, safe and friendly service of the elderly in Bangkok.
