Means to Prevent and to Solve Corruption Based on the Opinions of the People in Bangkok

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the opinions of the people in Bangkok 1) methods of corruption 2) analyze condition the practice of its prevention and fix corruption 3) Prevention guidelines and fix corruption according to the views of people in Bangkok. This is a qualitative research. The 40 respondents were interviews. Semi-structured in-depth interview Re-examine the data with a triangular review of data collection methods. Descriptive data analysis. The findings were as follows:
1. In the opinion of people in Bangkok, the methods of corruption include contains 7 methods following: procurement tactics, "Kintamnam or Pidhupidta" (free flow intakes), position appointment, or applying for a job, bidding for projects, commission fees, and patronage. Different techniques were used in these methods.
2. The practices to prevent and solve corruption in the opinions of people in Bangkok include the following: appointing a committee to monitor the procurement with strict scrutiny measures; a fair examination process in appointing persons to positions without patronage favoritism, and e-auction.
3. As for the means to prevent and solve corruption, people in Bangkok suggest the following: the agency administration must adhere to the rules and regulations: strictly observing the principles of good governance; an anti-corruption group should be set up at various levels from the village up to the nation; and at all levels of education curriculum should be initiated to teach about corruption the problem, the causes and ways to solve it.
