Methods on Employment and Promoting Job Opportunities to Disable Person in Thailand

Abstract

The objectives of this are to study, analyze, survey and collect information about the employment situations of disable people in government agencies and those who are self-employed to research about occupations or jobs that are suitable for different types of disable people, and then present a policy recommendations and action plan on methods on employment and promoting occupations suitable for each type of disable people so that they can access rights to job opportunities. The research found that 1) There are less than half of the population of disable people in Thailand are employed or engaged in a business and disable people who are unemployed or not engage in a business have sufficient capacity to earn a living; 2) in terms of occupations or jobs suitable for each type of disability, the research found out that disable people can engage in various industries based on each type of disability such as service industry, office industry, self-employed industry and many more; 3) factors affecting employment and promoting job opportunities that enable disable people to be successful include family members providing support and encouragement, strong disable people’s organizations, positive attitude towards disable people, suitable working environment; 4) three methods on employment and promoting job opportunities for disable people which are methods on employment and promoting job opportunities that allow disable people to work with non-disable people, methods on employment and promotion job opportunities specifically for disable people, and methods on employment and promoting job opportunities for disable people in a community.
