A Competency Development Model in Educational Administration of Temple Abbots

Abstract

This research was aimed to 1) study the current state of problems in competency development in educational administration of temple abbots, 2) to develop a competency development model in competency development in educational administration of temple abbots, and 3) to evaluate the competency development model in competency development in educational administration of temple abbots. The qualitative data were collected from documents, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with 10 key-informants and then analyzed by content analysis. The quantitative data were collected by questionnaire from 400 sample abbots and analyzed by mean, percentage and standard deviation.


The research results found that:


  1. The current problems in competency development in educational administration of temple abbots indicated that; the budget for education operation was lower than the work load, the temples lacked of qualified teachers and the existing teachers had limited capacity in curriculum management and measurement and evaluation.

  2. The development of competency development in educational administration of temple abbots consisted of 3 major parts; 1) Lead consisting of principle, environment and objective, 2) Process consisting of competency factor, competency development method and aducational administration principle, and 3) Application consisting of teaching and learning preparation, operation monitor, and evaluation.

3. The evaluation result of the competency development model in competency development in educational administration of temple abbots was at the high level overall. It was suggested that CPEA Model be implemented in educational administration development.
